Circles of support
Who are the support-people of people with Down syndrome?
Who do they talk to?
Who do they laugh with?
Who do they share their problems with?
Anne Roll studies and works at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
She looks at the social networks of people with Down syndrome.
She wants to find out:
- Who is important to them?
- Who are the supporters of people with Down syndrome?
- Who do they talk to?
- Who do they laugh with?
- Who do they share their problems with?
She conducted interviews on the topic.
With adults with Down syndrome.
In the USA.
And in Germany.
Johanna von Schönfeld is a member of the Ohrenkuss editorial team.
She had a conversation with Anne Roll about her circles of support.
Johanna reports:
„The collaboration was damn very good. Research - to find something out together. We spoke about family. I'm a family 'n friendship type and so I'm over the moon happy, cause I absolutely love conversations and the listening.
That brings for me in any case real happiness."
