Maria

Maria is 17 years old.
She is a swimmer.
She started swimming at school.
When she was 8 years-old.
She has always been very sporty.
Maria trains 5 to 6 times a week.
She loves to swim.
She says: That's her purpose in life.
And she likes travelling the world to attend competitions.
In this way she gets to know many new countries.

In 2015 Maria participated for the first time in an international competition.
International means many people from many different countries participate.
In England and in Italy.
She was very successful.
She won 3 medals at the European competitions for swimmers with Down syndrome:
One Gold Medal, and 2 Silver Medals.
At the junior competitions she set 2 record times.
In breaststroke and in free-style.

In her free time Maria goes riding.
She loves telling jokes.
She likes spending time with her friends and she loves good food.
